Shazmi againts the world

She finally did it ! Definately, the country’s best sportsman. Nicol David, has won the British Open. Bloody hell ! I’ve never been happier listening to the news than probably the time Arsenal went unbeaten.

Earlier Nicol David became the first Malaysian to win a British Open title, and the first Asian to win the women’s crown, when she beat Australia’s Natalie Grinham in the women’s final in straight games – in 55 minutes.

The in-form world No3, seeded three and ranked two places higher than Grinham, had not beaten the Australian in their previous four meetings.  The pair often train with each other in the Netherlands, where both are based.

Grinham was hoping to gain revenge for David’s earlier defeat of her older sister Rachael Grinham, the defending champion, in the previous round.  The fourth seed led 7-5 in the second game and 6-0 in the third, but the pint-sized Malaysian piled on the pressure to claim her 9-6 9-7 9-6 win and her maiden British Open title.

"My semi-final win against Rachael, the world number one, gave me extra confidence tonight.  It was a really close game, I really had to hang in there - it feels so good," said a delighted 22-year-old David afterwards.

I am so so proud of you Nicol. Many of the foreign press members were saying you played your best squash ever, hardly any errors to it. Well, you are the best and I wish you many many more championships. Now, for the world no 1 ranking darling….Go for it

A lot has been said bout the hurricane Katrina. Many people regard it as a natural tragedy, the loss of lives, the loss of property, pets etc. Many people also blame the Bush’s administration for being very late in helping the people, especially in New Orleans. Many people have also said that perhaps the delay in response and help is due to the victims were from the black suburbs and not the flashy white dominated LA, Miami or even one of the red neck areas. Well, to be honest, if it took 6 days for rescuers to come and supply food to those that were literally on the streets, then I say, that’s a third world country scenario Bush !!! You FAILED in helping your people when they were hit, you FAILED to send rescuers, you FAILED to assist in the evacuating the city, you FAILED in providing food and clean water and most importantly you FAILED to ensure that there was no HUMAN TRAGEDY occuring after the hurricane.

My eyes were nearly watery when I heard of the report. What report you may asked?

After Katrina strucked, many of the folks of the New Orleans took shelter at the Superdome (an indoor sports arena). Well, the arena was suppose to protect them from the hurricane, which is fair enough. But what was going inside was unbelievable. There were not many police personnel in the arena, which means security was at a minimum level. What happened then was crazy, two black rival gangs started taking control of the situation inside. They had a gang fight, shooting and murdering of innocent civilians. If that was not bad enough, young women were raped repeatedly by gang members. If you think that is sick, children between the age of 9-12, were raped at the toilets. Whenever a young girl wanted to go toilet to ease herself, she ends up being raped as those sick bustards will be at the toilet to rape them. If that doesn’t choke you, then this will. Gang members, after raping like so many people, started raping babies and toddlers……….

This is America , the Americans proudly say, the land where individual liberty is paramount. The land where human right is upheld. The land where its people are civilised and believes in freedom. Does individual liberty means you can shoot other people in the packed Superdome just to exert power? Where was your human rights when you had gang members repeatedly raping young women? How can you rape young girls at the toilet and called yourselves civilised? What freedom do you promise in that country of yours where babies and toddlers are raped? And all this happen when there was a hurricane outside. You would expect a civilised society to be praying for their safety and helping each other in need but I guess, civilised and america, ain’t proudly standing next to each other now.

No honest American will be proud of what happened in New Orleans. Who says Katrina was a natural disaster…It was a human tragedy occuring at the supposedly most civilised country in the world….

Here’s the scenario. Opposition MP riles up a Senior Minister, hackles her and verbally beats the crap out of her. The issue, in my opinion was extremely justified. What gets interesting is, 2 govt backbenchers joins in the fray and pushes the Senior Minister around demanding for answers and explanations and support the Opposition’s demands.

Then what happens ?

Democracy in Malaysia at its best !!!

Senior Govt Official informs or rather demands to the backbenchers to apologise to the Senior Minister and the party for supporting the Opposition motion, irrelevant whether the motion is justified or not. Meaning, in our parliament, even if the opposition proposes a policy that will benefit all, it will not be supported by the majority of the MPs, cause we are govt MPs and we will be damned if we support your motion. Who cares if your motion will benefit the rakyat, who cares if it is justified and who cares if it benefits the nation as a whole ? All we know is, we are govt MPs and we will be damned if we support the Opposition’s motion…we will be damned if we do….or we will just be made to embarrased ourselves by apologising…..

Go Democracy !!

To those who read my posting on budget wish list, would’ve easily comprehend my utter disappointment towards the Budget. The Budget easily isoloates the majority of the tax payers i.e. the middle class. The very cream of the society who are in their late 20s or mid 30s who would not gain anything from the new deductions like children in Higher learning Institute etc. Furthermore, majority of the tax payers are people who work in the private sector but the people who recieved the biggest allocation are govt servants (in terms of bonus) and teachers. What about us Pak Lah?

About 5 billion of ringgit will be allocated in the budget for construction of govt infrastructure and schools etc. We all know where this contract will go to, don’t we?

Thanks Pak Lah and team and Congratulations !!! You’ve just isolated a huge group of Malaysians, many of whom like me, who were growing to admire your policies….DISAPPOINTING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
